This mountain paradise is located on the foot of Langberg, in the district of Boesmanskop, on the farm, Vanderhovensrust. Boesmanskop is between Wepener and Zastron in the Free State, 150km South East of Bloemfontein.
The farm is situated on the South African side of the Lesotho border. A tar road twists up the mountain, where breathtaking views of the Free State and the Maluti mountains, await visitors. On a clear sky day you can easily see 100’s of kilometres far.
Special roads on the mountain, offer loads of fun and adventure for the avid hikers, motorcycle devotees and 4×4 enthusiasts. These roads allow visitors to explore Langberg from corner to corner. Other activities include bird watching, star-gazing, guinea-fowl hunting and horse riding. Maps of the roads are available at reception.
The cottage sleeps 8 people and is fully equipped for self-catering. The duplex consists of an open plan living room and kitchen, as well as, a bathroom with a shower, on the ground floor and a big, spacious bedroom upstairs, with 2 double beds and 2 single beds. The main bedroom is separate from the rest of the house, with a queen sized bed and en-suite bathroom with a shower. The kitchen has a gas stove and gas refrigerator with a small freezer. The outside boma is very convenient with a braai and entertainment area, with a beautiful view over the Free State landscape.
There is no electricity at Amara Tomana. Candles and paraffin lamps are provided for lighting and the Milky Way offers free television viewing for the whole family, every night!
Every season has something unique to offer. The cottage is warm and comfortable, even during winter months and you can snuggle underneath a feather duvet with hot water bottle, which are provided. You might even be lucky enough to see the landscape covered in a blanket of snow!
